City Square Mall (CSM) is Singapore’s first eco-mall developed by City Developments Limited - one of Singapore’s most successful property developers with a remarkable track record and a pioneer in sustainability. The use of innovative construction methods saw the saving of 50 truckloads of sand, 8 Olympic-sized swimming pools’ worth of water, and 365 saloon cars’ weight in steel.
Its numerous features, including extended solar fins, louvres, and LED façade lighting, have enabled annual electricity savings of 12 million kWh, and reduction in CO2 emission of over 6,600 tonnes. This is equivalent to the amount of CO2 emission absorbed by 154,000 trees. The mall is the first retail space in Singapore to be awarded the top-tier Green Mark Pearl Prestige Award in 2018 by the URA, recognising its strong commitment in achieving greater environmental sustainability.
As part of City Developments Limited’s Asset Enhancement Initiative (AEI), the S$50 million-upgrade features refreshed dining options, community spaces for youths and families, and the use of integrated upcycled materials to support circularity. Delegates will have the opportunity to tour and learn more about the sustainable finishes and enhancements that have been implemented.
Following the tour, delegates will be brought to the Food Republic Food Court in the mall to try some of Singapore’s local hawker delights. Singapore’s hawker culture is well represented here, reflecting the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity award in December 2020.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is Singapore’s national planning and land use authority. It operates under the Ministry of National Development and is responsible for the long-term physical development of Singapore.
The Master Plan is a statutory land use plan developed by the URA and reviewed every five years. It translates Singapore’s long term planning vision, as outlined in the Concept Plan, into a detailed plan that guides land use and development for the medium term.
In July this year, the URA unveiled the Draft Master Plan (DMP) 2025 outlining how Singapore’s urban landscape will evolve over the next 10 to 15 years. The URA is showcasing the Draft Master Plan 2025 exhibition at the URA Centre. With a theme – Catch a glimpse of tomorrow, today! - the four main pillars of the exhibition are:
SISV is proud to let participants take a sneak peek of Singapore’s future and we invite you to join the technical tour to see the Space for Our Dreams! The technical tour at the DMP 2025 Exhibition will be hosted by the URA who will explain the rationale and policy considerations for the Plan.
Following the tour at URA Centre, we will bring delegates to the Maxwell Food Centre to have a chance to try out our local hawker delights. As a nation of foodies, we are proud that Singapore’s hawker culture was successfully inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2020.
